NEW DELHI: Technology giant Microsoft announced that its Edge browser will be the fastest browser for Windows 10. The company made this announcement during its annual Build 2021 developer conference. The Edge browser is set to get a speed boost with its version 91 launched this week.
The browser is set to have the sleeping tabs feature, which prioritizes the computer tabs you are actively using while pausing the others in the background. This upcoming feature will increase the speed of the browser.
The company claims the new version will also make the browser faster. Microsoft also mentioned that the changes will make Edge 91 the “most powerful browser on Windows 10”.
This is not a new feature as Google added a similar feature to their Chrome browser. The tab throttling function is enabled Google Chrome Cools the activity of the background tabs and gives priority to the active tabs.
Microsoft Edge is the second most popular internet browser in the world. According to a report from NetMarketShare, Microsoft Edge put Mozilla Firefox in third place and now has a market share of 7.59%. Firefox in third place has a 7.19% market share. Microsoft recently announced that it was unplugging its 25-year-old web browser, Internet Explorer. The company claims that the aging web browser has not been used by most consumers in years.
