AirPods: Apple Reduces AirPods Production: Report

Technology giant Apple will lower the production of his AirPods According to a report by Nikkei Asia, by 25% to 40%. The report didn’t make it clear which AirPods model will receive this treatment, the AirPods, the AirPods Pro or the over-the-ear AirPods Max. The reason for this is believed to be the drop in sales of the popular tech giant real wireless earbuds due to increased competition in the true wireless headphones category.
The report, based on input from those in the know, says Apple will focus on producing only about 75 to 85 million AirPod units for the remainder of the year than it was previously slated for 110 million units.
“The most significant drop in orders for the second quarter was at the beginning of the third quarter. Inventories [in warehouses] and the inventory of AirPods in the store is high right now … and the demand is not as strong as expected. “the report quotes one of its sources.
However, the AirPods and AirPods Pro are expected to receive upgrades this year which the tech giant hopes will renew customer interest in the product and increase sales. The Cupertino-based technology giant is said to be working on the third generation of AirPods. Production is slated to begin in the third quarter of this year, according to technology analyst Ming-Chi Kuo. The analyst had previously predicted that Apple could see a drop in headphone shipments this year due to increased competition in this category. He also said the tech giant may not be putting the second generation AirPods on hold when the new AirPods arrive.
