NEW DELHI: Apple announced the next generation of Apple 4K TV at its Spring Loaded event. The new sixth generation Apple TV contains an A12 chipset and has a redesigned one Siri Remote. Along with the introduction of the new Apple 4K TV, the company made changes to its line of set-top boxes and discontinued the previous generation Apple TV 4K.
After the introduction of the new Apple 4K TV, the company stopped selling the fifth generation Apple TV, also known as the first Apple TV 4K. The device was powered by an A10X chipset that the company used in the second generation iPad Pro.
However, the company will continue to sell the fourth-generation Apple TV launched in 2015 that came with an A8 chip borrowed from Apple iPhone 6. This model of Apple TV has 32GB of internal storage and now comes with the new Siri remote.
The new Apple TV 4K will be available from Rs 18,900. Customers can order the new Apple TV 4K starting Friday April 30th. Availability begins in the second half of May in more than 30 countries and regions. You have to pay extra for the Siri remote.
The new Siri remote will be sold separately for Rs 5,800 and is compatible with previous generation Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD.
The new Apple TV 4K offers support for HDR (High Dynamic Range) and Dolby Vision videos at high frame rates. It works with the iPhone and its sensors to improve the picture quality of a TV. Apple TV uses the light sensor in the iPhone to compare color balance.
On the other hand, the new and redesigned Siri remote has a clickpad control that offers five-way navigation for better accuracy and is also touch-enabled for quick directional swipes
