Apple makes it easy to find lost products with the iPhone

For those in the Apple Ecosystem made it a little easier to find their lost products Find mine App. Apple is now expanding the app’s functions to include other companies. The app has been updated to allow third-party products to use the search capabilities of the Apple Find My network.
According to an official post in Apple’s newsroom, the Find My Network Accessories program opens the Find My Network network for third-party device manufacturers to develop products that use the service so their customers can use the Find My Network app to find specific products and keep track of important items.


How does Find My App work?

The Find My app uses Apple devices. Bluetooth Signals that form a network of devices that search for lost items. Simply put, it’s a crowdsourced network of Apple devices that use Bluetooth wireless technology to detect missing devices or nearby items and report their approximate location back to the owner. Apple claims that the entire process is encrypted and anonymous at the end of the day, so no one else, not even Apple or the third party manufacturer, can view a device’s location or information.
If a user ever loses their Apple device, they can use the Find My app to locate it on a map, play a sound to pinpoint its location, put it in Lost Mode to instantly lock it, and a View a message with a contact number. They can also remotely erase the device if it falls into the wrong hands.


Who can use Find My technology?

Apple said companies who want to take advantage of the technology can sign up to take part in Made for iPhone (MFi) Program – Designed for any accessory developer who wants to connect an existing or new product to the Find My network. “Third-party products must comply with all the data protection provisions of the Find My network that Apple customers rely on,” Apple said in the press release. Approved products can be added to the new Articles tab and have a “Works with Apple Find My” badge to clearly indicate to users that the product is compatible with the Find My Network and Find My Article app is.
Some of the products that are already part of the program include Belkin’s true wireless earbuds.
