It’s only been a week since the Cupertino-based tech giant Apple introduced major software updates for all product categories, and now the company has rolled out a new update for again iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch and MacBook User.
The new software updates appear to contain several bug fixes and improvements, so it is recommended that you update to them immediately.
iOS 14.5.1 and iPadOS 14.5.1
When it comes to software updates for iPhone and iPad, Apple has fixed the issue where users would not see prompts about app tracking transparency. “This update addresses an issue with app tracking transparency where some users who previously allowed apps to track in Settings may not receive prompts from apps after re-enabling them. This update also provides critical security updates and is recommended for all users, “said Apple.
Apart from that, Apple has also addressed the problem of malicious web content that can lead to arbitrary code execution and “may have been actively exploited”.
The new software update for Apple Watch contains security improvements that Apple has not released.
macOS Big Sur 11.3.1
Just like the iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch, the latest software update for MacBooks also comes with security improvements. Again, the company does not provide any detailed information about the new features in macOS Big Sur 11.3.1. Instead, it says: “macOS Big Sur 11.3.1 offers important security updates and is recommended for all users.”
However, the security advisories indicate that the issue addressed a memory corruption and integer overflow issue in WebKit – both of which may have been exploited with maliciously crafted web content.
