In the wake of the Covid-19 situation in India internet search giant Google announced new measures and useful features that will be rolled out across all services – including Search, YouTube, Maps and Google Pay.
“Right now we are focusing on three priority areas: making sure people have access to the latest and most authoritative information; Improving vital safety and vaccination messages; and provide financial support to affected communities, health authorities and other organizations, ”the company revealed in a blog post about the functions.
The company has launched a pilot program on Google Maps using its Q&A functionality to help users find hospital beds and medical oxygen. With this function, users can query and exchange local information on the availability of beds and medical oxygen at selected locations. “Because this is user-generated content and is not provided by authorized sources, it may need to be verified that the information is accurate and up-to-date before it is used,” added Google.
When searching for vaccinations, Google said that the search showed users relevant information such as the latest updates on the vaccine’s safety, effectiveness, and side effects, as well as registration information that directs users to the vaccine Win Website.
It also displays information that is separated into tabs such as Prevention, Self Care, and Treatment for easy viewing.
When searching for locations for testing and vaccination centers, Google says it displays over 23,000 vaccination centers nationwide in English and eight in Indian.
For those who rely on YouTube as their primary source of information, Google has created a series of playlists on vaccines to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. Google claims these facts came from experts in COVID-19 care.
Google added support for donations to nonprofits that help out during this time.
