NEW DELHI: Over the years Google has introduced some interesting features to its standard messaging app – Google Messages. Same as the Apple iMessageThe messaging app overlays the age-old SMS protocol under a new internet-based platform called RCS (Rich Communication Services).
To further improve the user experience, Google is working on a new feature for its messaging app. The company is working on adding the pinned chat feature to the app. The function is already available in Apple iMessage and WhatsApp.
According to a piece of code discovered by XDA developers, Google is working on the feature that will allow users to pin chats to the top of the app. XDA developers found the code in the last version of version 8.1.050 of the Google Messages APK. This is the stable version of the app that is currently running on the updated Android devices.
The report mentions that the app code is referring to the “Pin Up” and “Remove from the Top” actions. It is expected that the feature will allow three chats at the same time. You can also pin three chats with WhatsApp. In addition, iMessages and WhatsApp allow users to pin chats to the top.
Apart from that, XDA developers have also announced that Google is working on another feature that allows users to “mark” a message. Again, this is the same feature that WhatsApp offers. This feature helps keep track of the important messages that can be accessed in a separate section.
In other Google-related messages, you won’t be able to back up unlimited pictures from as of June 1st Google photos. At the end of last year, Google announced a change to its Google Photos storage policy. According to the new policy, the 15GB of free storage that comes with every Google Account also includes Google Photos. So far, the photos that users save in “high quality” are not counted in this 15 GB.
