This announcement by Google comes months after Apple posted the same information in the App Store. Both third-party and first-party apps must provide the required information.
In an official blog post, Google mentions, “The upcoming security area in Google Play, which will help users understand the data that an app collects or shares when that data is secured, as well as additional details related to privacy and security impact. ”
Google also announced that the section contains information about what type of data is collected and stored: examples of possible options are approximate or exact location, contacts, personal information (e.g. name, email address), Photos and videos, audio files and storage files.
“Google Play will have a policy that requires developers to provide accurate information. If we discover that a developer has misrepresented the data they provided and is in breach of the policy, the developer must correct it. Apps that don’t. ” If you don’t comply, you need to enforce the guidelines, “the company said.
