Google will skip the largest mobile trade show in 2021

Last year one of the most important tech events – the Mobile World Congress (MWC) – was canceled due to the pandemic. This year, however, the GSM Association, which organizes the annual MWC trade shows, plans to hold MWC in person.
But the tech giant Google decided to miss the tech show. Google has announced that it will not exhibit at MWC this year.
In an official statement, Google said, “According to our current one COVID-19 Due to travel restrictions and protocols, Google has decided not to exhibit at Mobile World Congress this year. We will continue to work closely with the GSMA and support our partners through virtual opportunities. We look forward to this year’s activities and to seeing you in Barcelona in 2022. ”
In February of this year, the GSMA confirmed that it had the MWC 2021 personally in June. Participants in Barcelona require a negative Covid-19 test result (within 72 hours) and the tests are available on site.
John Hoffman, CEO of GSMA Limited, also mentioned that the GSMA will use technology to create a “no-touch environment” from registration to all events within MWC.
Hoffman also mentioned that Barcelona will be different this year too. “MWC Barcelona is expected to have a reduced capacity. Hoffman estimates that between 40,000 and 50,000 attendees are expected for its flagship event in 2021, compared to around 110,000 two years ago.”
