NEW DELHI: OnePlus has launched its first smartwatch – OnePlus watch – in India with the latest OnePlus 9 series of smartphones. Last month, the company announced that it would soon release an always-on display on the smartwatch.
In order to keep its promise, the smartphone manufacturer has now started to introduce a software update that brings the always-on display to the OnePlus watch. However, the inclusion of this feature will affect the battery life of the smartwatch.
Using the always-on display shortens the battery life of the wearable because the screen stays on all the time. This also means that the battery life is cut in half. After installing the update, the OnePlus Watch may only be able to provide 7 days of battery backup instead of 14 days.
In addition to the always-on display, the latest update also brings the marathon training mode and fixes some problems that promise to improve system stability.
OnePlus watch specifications
OnePlus Watch has a 1.39-inch OLED display with a resolution of 454 × 454 pixels. As confirmed by the company, the OnePlus Watch uses RTOS software, as can also be seen in smartwatches from Amazfit. Users can also connect the smartwatch to the OnePlus TV and use it as a remote control. The device has protection class IP68, which makes it dust and waterproof.
The OnePlus Watch offers functions such as sleep monitoring, air pressure monitoring and monitoring of blood oxygen levels. The wearable also offers 110 training modes, including walking, jogging, running, marathon, outdoor cycling, indoor cycling, freestyle training, swimming and much more.
The company also confirmed that users can track all health data using the OnePlus health app. The smartwatch also offers 4 GB of internal memory.
The OnePlus watch comes with Wrap Charge fast charging. The company claims that the smartwatch offers a week of battery life with 20 minutes of charging.
