Social media platform Instagram plans to introduce a new feature that will filter out offensive comments, according to a report from PhoneArena. This would be an AI tool that could flag and block any offensive language use on the platform. Users can also manually set certain words in their blocked list. Currently, Instagram has a hide offensive comments tool that you can use to filter out the linguistic usage. The options can be accessed through the settings in the Privacy subsection.
The new AI algorithm for sorting out the “inappropriate” words and other content is reportedly currently in the testing phase. Its purpose is to sort such content and prevent it from reaching your feed. Regarding the offensive word selection, the report adds that the AI’s ability to find offensive words is based on frequently reported words reported by people on Instagram on the platform.
Speaking of new features: Facebook’s own photo sharing app has launched another TikTok-inspired feature called Remix for Reels. The new feature works like TikTok Duet and allows users to re-mix a role by pairing their video with other users.
Instagram announced that it has been testing the feature with selected users since October. The company has now launched a global rollout of the Remix feature. The new Instagram Role Remix feature is enabled by default for each new role. If users want to reshuffle their older roles, they have to enable the feature manually. To activate the Remix function, users must tap the role’s three-dot menu and then select “Activate Remix”.
