To post from the Instagram desktop website, you need to click the button at the top of the desktop view (a “+” symbol in a rounded box). Desktop users can drag and drop pictures and videos onto the site. You also get image editing support for cropping images and applying filters.
Similar to the app users, desktop users can also add captions and locations to the photos. You can also tag people in the picture. You can also deactivate comments in the advanced settings.
Although the tipster does not give a date for the introduction of the feature, it is expected to be in the near future.
