Also, in one of the many footnotes in the AirTag press release, Apple clearly mentioned that iOS 14.5 will be available next week. “AirTag requires an iPhone or iPod touch with iOS 14.5 or higher or an iPad with iPadOS 14.5 or higher. These software updates will be available next week, ”says the footnote.
