LG promises three years of Android updates for these smartphones

NEW DELHI: earlier this week, LG announced that it will be leaving the smartphone business. Now the company has confirmed that there will be a future Android Updates for his smartphones despite the exit.
The company has confirmed that the LG Velvet, LG Wing, and G and V series 2019 or later will receive three Android updates from the year of their release. On the other hand, some 2020 models like the LG Stylo and K are getting two software updates.
For example, LG launched the Velvet smartphone with ready-to-use Android 10 last year. The company is already working on an Android 11 update for the smartphone. However, as promised by the company, the smartphone will also receive updates for Android 12 and 13.
The South Korean tech giant describes the announcement as a “three-year promise” and a “guarantee of three operating system updates”.
As mentioned above, LG will completely close its cellular business and exit the smartphone market by July 31st. The company announced that this decision will allow it to use its resources to grow other businesses like smart homes, robotics, AI, and electric vehicles.
“Core technologies developed in LG’s two decades of mobile business operations are being retained and applied to existing and future products,” the company said.
According to the analysts, LG’s exit from the smartphone business will create more opportunities for Samsung and other competing companies.
