Co-founder of OnePlus Carl PeiConsumer technology startup Nothing announced that it will launch its first truly wireless earbuds called the Ear 1 in June.
This was announced by Pei via a blog post in which he didn’t reveal much about the upcoming launch.
“Design is still top secret, but we can tell you that Ear 1 combines notes of transparency, iconic shape and refined functionality. It is the starting point that defines the artistry, confidence and craftsmanship that our products and services will carry for years to come, ”Pei said on the blog.
On his blog, he also shed some light on the naming of the earphones on Ear 1. He said, “We’re not trying to give it a fancy name. We don’t want to sit around discussing these names either. We let Ear 1 speak for itself. ”
Truly wireless earbuds are the first consumer technology product category Nothing is starting with, as Pei said, “the headphone market has been begging for differentiation …” and it appears that they will play a role as the company “prepares for new product categories”.
Back in February, a report from Bloomberg claimed that Nothing would launch wireless headphones for the first time this summer, followed by more products later this year.
Carl Pei had said in an interview that the company is focused on building an ecosystem of intelligent devices and will initially introduce simpler products such as wireless earbuds. He also mentioned that the company will launch several products later this year.
