It seems that the idea of having their children on a platform like Instagram has not been very well received by parents in the USA.
More than 1,80,000 people signed petitions urging the company to drop the idea of launching Instagram for kids, according to a USA Today report.
According to the report, the three petitions are from nonprofits and grassroots organizations, including the Ad-Free Childhood Campaign, SumOfUs, and a collaborative effort by the Juggernaut Project.
“Teens and even adults on Instagram struggle with the never-ending focus on looks, the relentless fear of missing out, promoting influencer culture, and the pressure to earn likes,” said Josh Golin, campaign manager for an ad-free childhood director. “Instagram for young children is among the greediest, deaf, and bogus ideas to ever emerge from Silicon Valley,” he added.
