Chinese tech major Xiaomi will launch its first gaming phone under the Redmi Mark by the end of this month, according to a report from MyFixGuide. The smartphone company had teased the smartphone some time ago and has now officially confirmed it via Weibo. With the Redmi gaming phoneXiaomi has now penetrated the gaming smartphone segment
According to the report, the game phone is positioned as “main game machine, main game ship + hardcore game function”. As with previous leaks, there are certain specs that you can expect with the game. It is rumored that the gaming phone comes with the MediaTek Dimensions 1200 chipset. The chipset is the world’s first 6 nm smartphone chipset on the TSMC Design and consists of 1x Ultra Cortex-A78 core (clocked at 3 GHz), 3x Super Cortex-A78 cores at 2.6 GHz and 4x efficiency Cortex-A55 cores at 2 GHz.
The phone is said to have the model number “M2104K10C” and the code name “Ares”. Other speculated features are an AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 144 Hz and a 5000 mAh battery with 65 W fast charge. The phone may also have shoulder triggers like other current gaming phones like the Asus ROG Phone 5 and Lenovo Legion.
The gaming phone will hit the domestic market first. It is not yet known if Xiaomi plans to launch the phone in India. In that case, it would be up against Asus, which recently launched the powerful ROG 5 series of smartphones in the country. In China there are already phones from companies like Nubia and Lenovo to create stiff competition. According to rumors, Lenovo will also be launching its gaming phone – the Legion 2 Pro – soon.
