Samsung beats Apple to regain top position in the global smartphone market in the first quarter of 2021, IDC and Canalys claim

South Korean tech giant Samsung has established itself as a leader in the global smartphone market End of the first quarter of 2021. This was reported by market research companies IDC and channels.
Both market research companies had declared at the end of the last quarter – Q4 2020 Apple as a top player in the global smartphone market. However, by the end of the first quarter of 2021, Samsung has regained its number one position according to both IDC and Canalys.
While Canalys claimed Samsung shipped 76.5 million units to take a 22% stake, IDC suggests Samsung saw shipments of 75.3 million and a 21.8% stake.
Apple took a 15% market share at the end of the first quarter of 2021 by shipping 52.4 million units, according to Canalys. IDC also claims a skimpy value of 55.2 million shipments and a market share of 16% in the first quarter of 2021.
Chinese brands XiaomiOppo and Vivo were third, fourth and fifth, according to Canalys and IDC.
According to Canalys, Xiaomi has shipped 49 million units with a market share of 14%. Oppo delivered 37.6 million units with a market share of 11% and Vivo delivered 36 million shares with a market share of 10%.
IDC is also forecasting similar numbers for the Chinese brands. According to IDC, Xiaomi shipped 48.6 million units and achieved a market share of $ 14.1, Oppo 37.5 million units and market share of 10.8%, and Vivo 34.9 million units and market share of 10.1%.
