Whatsapp put the disappearing message Feature last November. This feature allows users to send messages that are automatically deleted after seven days. Previously it was available for individual chats and administrators for WhatsApp.
According to a report from WaBetaInfo, the feature may soon be made available to every member of a WhatsApp group. Facebook’s own instant messaging App has introduced the latest beta on Android Version 220.127.116.11 in which the upcoming feature was discovered.
“WhatsApp is now introducing the ability to toggle disappearing messages from group members if the administrator has not disabled this option,” the report said. This means that any group member can send disappearing messages WhatsApp group chats.
WaBetaInfo is the platform that keeps track of WhatsApp’s latest and upcoming features. In its report, WaBetaInfo also shared a screenshot from a group chat setting. It shows that the Edit Group Information option has been updated to reflect the most recent changes. It now includes message disappearance settings that are available for both All Participants and Administrators Only.
WhatsApp is also reported to be running tests to reduce the time it takes for messages to disappear from the current 7 days to 24 hours. It was first reported back in March of this year when WaBetaInfo tweeted, “WhatsApp is testing the ability to set messages to disappear after 24 hours.”
In another update, WhatsApp introduced the beta version 18.104.22.168 for Android. It includes a “Redesigned Mention Badge” feature that allows users to display a mention badge when they receive a mention in a message from a specific group.
