NEW DELHI: Google Drive enables individuals and organizations to store, share and collaborate from anywhere. However, over the years hackers have used it Google Drive documents filled with spam to target users.
Google has now found a solution here too. The company introduces user blocking in Google Drive.
“Drive’s sharing capabilities promote productivity and collaboration, but bad actors can abuse tools designed to make helpful sharing easier. So it’s important to have the security controls in place to ward off these sharing threats,” Google said in one Blog post.
Blocking users can protect Drive users in three ways:
– In the future, block another user from sharing content with you. This can be a useful control if, for example, another user has sent spam or abusive content in the past.
– Remove any existing files and folders shared by another user. This is an easy way to get rid of all spam or abusive content shared by a specific user at one time.
– Remove someone else’s access to your content, even if you’ve previously shared it with them.
Google claims that this new feature will help protect the safety of Drive users. The company will be rolling out this new data protection feature in the coming months.
Aside from that, Google also announced new features for Google Sheets and Docs at I / O 2021. Users can now jump into from a discussion Google Chat directly to the joint construction of content. Creating and editing sheets and documents from Google chat rooms is already live and Google says it will soon be enabled for slides as well.
Google also receives so-called smart chips, which show you additional information such as the person’s location, job title and contact information. All users have to do is just type “@” and they’ll see a list of recommended people, files, and meetings.
