The Tick tock was a cultural phenomenon was never in doubt. Every major tech company – Snap, Facebook, Google – Tried its best to create a TikTok rival, but with limited success. Now, Google is taking another sheet from TikTok’s book to improve it Youtube Shorts – the answer to TikTok – and attract more creators. According to several online reports, YouTube created a YouTube worth $ 100 million Shorts Fund that pays developers money to create engaging content.
According to a report by The VergeYouTube will contact the developers on a monthly basis. These will be creators who have the most views and who boast of wide engagement. YouTube didn’t specify how much money it will pay, but it did mention that thousands of developers could end up getting paid. Anyone who posts to Shorts is eligible, but the content must be original.
YouTube Shorts users in India and the US can earn money from the fund. It’s not clear when the payments will start, but they will start this year and run until sometime in 2022.
This isn’t exactly an original idea from Google as TikTok has been doing this for a while. In July 2020, TikTok launched a $ 200 million fund to pay creators to provide content. Snapchat, which has a TikTok rival named Spotlight, also announced that it is paying developers up to $ 1 million a day.
Although TikTok is banned in India, it is still very popular around the world. The ban on TikTok led to the emergence of native apps, as well as Instagram and Google, trying to capitalize on the “void” TikTok had left in India. The $ 100 million fund is another attempt by YouTube and Google to offer users an alternative to TikTok and increase their presence in the short video room.
