Zoom’s new feature makes video calls more “realistic”.

Video conference platform Zoom announced a number of new features that are coming to the market Zoom meetings, Zoom Phone and Zoom Video webinars.
With zoom a function called ‘Immersive viewThis allows the host to set a custom background theme – like a classroom or courtroom – for their meetings. These layouts show participant videos in a scene that everyone shares.
Zoom’s immersive view can accommodate a maximum of 25 participants in a scene. If there are more than 25 participants, they will be displayed in a thumbnail strip at the top of the scene.
Both meeting and webinar hosts can choose the immersive view of Zoom as well as the speaker or gallery view. This view also allows the hosts to automatically or manually place participants and even move them around in this scene or resize their image.
Support for Immersive View was introduced for Windows and macOS desktop users – free and single Pro accounts – with Zoom 5.6.3 or later.
Interestingly, some attendees using older versions of Zoom will still see other meeting attendees in either Gallery View or Speaker View. However, other participants in the meeting will still see these unsupported participants in the Immersive View scene with their original background.
If you’re a Zoom user, here’s what you need to do to enable Immersive View:
1. Log in to the Zoom web portal
2. Click Settings in the navigation menu
3. Click In Meeting (Advanced).
4. Find Immersive View and enable it.
